When Constant Debaters and Opinion-Holders Drain You

People who turn every topic into a debate, or have a ready opinion on everything, will exhaust and drain you.

They are often the same ones who remain silent about your achievements, or offer a half-hearted congratulations.

They are often the same ones who wait for your mistakes or slip-ups, yet conveniently forget all of their own.

They are often the same ones who talk endlessly, interrupt, and refuse to listen — and if they do listen, they neither focus nor try to understand.

They are often the same ones who will not accept the truth if it comes from you, yet will believe the exact same truth from other sources.

They are the same ones who, when confronted, say it’s just their “nature” or “spontaneity,” claiming pure intentions and a desire to talk to you.

And that is the moment you step back, overlooking all that was said, convincing yourself that their intentions erase the harm they’ve caused, thinking perhaps you were overanalyzing or judging too harshly.

But over time, you’ll find yourself worn out, drained, and gradually distancing yourself from such people.

So, draw your boundaries early and confront them before you reach the point of slowly walking away.
